Slap on some sunscreen and pack your togs, because some of Australia’s best beaches are located on Geraldton’s doorstep and are just waiting to be enjoyed. Whether you’re after calm beaches or adrenaline pumping waves, look no further than the Midwest coastline.

Geraldton Foreshore

The Geraldton Foreshore is in the heart of the city centre and is a sight to behold. When you’re not immersed in the tranquil waters, you can laze around on one of the pontoons, grab an ice-cream or bite to eat from one of the cafes, hire a SUP board from Ultimate Watersports or check out the Youth Precinct and Esplanade. Champion Bay Surf Lifesaving Club are also close by in case you’re not the most confident of swimmers. The Geraldton Foreshore is a great place for kids and families and has great paths for bike riding!

St George’s Beach, Bluff Point

A 15 minute walk from the Foreshore is the picturesque St George’s Beach, a hotspot for SUP boarding, kite surfing and our four legged friends. When the tide is low you can explore magical rock pools and spot everything from crabs, fish and some of the prettiest shells around. If you don’t want to get sand between your toes, adjacent to the beach is a beautiful walk trail and entertaining space equipped with barbecues. Get ready to chill out and enjoy the beach lifestyle!

A 20 minute drive from the CBD lays Glenfield Beach in Drummonds Cove. “Glennies” is a popular spot for surfing and bodyboarding with lots of waves sure to delight. The best time to hit the waves are between April to October when there is little wind and ideal swell conditions. November to March make for a windsurfer and kite boarder’s dream, with some of the best wind conditions in the state.

On a usual day you can find people swimming, running, walking or setup on the beach enjoying the sunshine.
