Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG) is set to host a trifecta of engaging exhibitions from this weekend!

No stranger to the Midwest, Helen Clarke will be returning with her first retrospective exhibition PRINTWORKS, focusing on Western Australian native plants and the natural world.

Opening on the Gallery’s ground floor is Focus 2022 the annual Geraldton Camera Club showcase of nationally-accredited images by Midwest photographers. The community also has the chance to vote for their favourite photo with a People’s Choice competition.

Completing this dynamic exhibitions’ launch is Fountains of Dwayne by Zac Bruce, former Midwest resident and Winner of the MWAP2019. Bruce uses video and shadow projections to explore celebrity and mythology.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn is enthusiastic about the new exhibitions.

“GRAG is the cultural cornerstone of our community and it is so wonderful that the Gallery continues to provide such exceptional exhibitions,” he said.

“Helen Clarke is one of WA’s leading printmakers and I am sure PRINTWORKS will live up to the hype that always accompanies her work. For the photography enthusiasts in town, Focus 2022 is a must-see as we will be treated to the best imagery from the region’s photographers.

“I am also eagerly looking forward to Fountains of Dwayne by Zac Bruce as he explores our current fascination with Armageddon.”

Tickets for the opening event on Friday 18 March have now booked out, however, the exhibitions will be on display from Saturday 19 March – Sunday 1 May 2022.

There will also be a free Artist Floor Talk from 10am – 11am Saturday 19 March and a Reduction Lino Print Workshop at GRAG with Lizzy Robinson and Helen Clarke from 11.30am – 1.30pm Saturday. Please see Eventbrite for tickets.

All visitors to GRAG must follow the State Government’s COVID-19 guidelines by checking in with the ServiceWA app and wearing a face mask.
