New Heritage Walk Trail for Geraldton

Those looking to learn about the history of Rocks Laneway will soon be able to do so while stretching their legs thanks to the development of a Heritage Walk Trail that’s sure to please!

Set to complement the existing heritage loops throughout Geraldton, the Rocks Laneway Heritage Trail will help better communicate the stories surrounding the Ghost Office, Post Office Lane and the old Rocks establishment.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn looked forward to the new attraction in the CBD.

“The inclusion of an additional Heritage Walk Trail is a great asset to the cultural cache of Geraldton,” he said.

“By facilitating access to the historical wealth of our community we enhance the connection that Geraldtonians share with the collective history of our CBD.

“The Rocks Laneway Walk Trail will also enable a richer experience for visitors and deepen the character of the CBD as part of our City Centre Revitalisation plan.”

Members of the public can enjoy the trail towards the end of June.

Once ready, the trail will start at the Foreshore Drive entrance of Rocks Laneway before continuing through the Old Rock’s Stationer’s Hall to the Ghost Office and along Post Office Lane finally concluding at the Post Office Lane Lightbox Gallery.

The trail will have signs, providing the viewer with a snapshot of times long since passed.
