Arts and Culture

Geraldton has a thriving arts and culture scene that includes several galleries, the Queens Park Theatre and a vast collection of public art.

The most significant piece of public art being the memorial to HMAS Sydney by Joan Walsh and Charles Smith in 2001. Other works have been commissioned such as the Tony Jones work outside the WA Police complex on Marine Terrace.

A number of works also are collected along the foreshore, notably the beautiful Ilgarijiri by Yamatji artists Margaret Whitehurst and Barbara Merritt, Zephyr by Nigel Helyer and Wiebbe Hayes, by Anthony Horn.

There is a rich urban or street art presence, especially within the city centre and a considerable number of community based artworks.
