Spring is here and so is the City of Greater Geraldton’s popular School Holiday Program which comes with some fresh new additions to the line-up!

Running for over five years now, the City put a call out recently to add some new exciting events to the program to keep kids entertained more than ever over the school holiday break.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn was pleased to introduce the new and invigorated edition of the program.

“We put a call out to the community last month for expressions of interest we’ve had some really cool concepts crop up for inclusion,” he said.

“Mix this with Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival and the usual great line up of events and you get a great spring program!

“Grab a hardcopy of City hosted programs, or head to our website for even more events happening throughout Greater Geraldton.”

New additions to the School Holiday Program include roller skating workshops with Geraldton Roller Derby, yoga for two with Mindful Body Gero, calligraphy classes with Narelle Beaver, kindness rock painting with Centacare and an archery skirmish and bubble soccer day with Archery Skirmish Perth.

Big Sky Readers and Writers Festival will run from Thursday 28 September to Sunday 1 October and will feature events for kids such as How do we create art with words? with Kristen Hogue, Making visual stories with graphic novelist Aśka and Twilight Storytime for the little ones.

Tried and true school holiday events will also be taking place such as the skate skills clinics, Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying sessions, sunset yoga and wheelchair basketball.

Registrations for many of these events are essential via Eventbrite and details can be found on the City’s website.

In addition to City run events on the physical program, a variety of additional events hosted by external providers can also be found on the City’s events calendar.

Organisers  interested in facilitating an activity or workshop with the City in future iterations of the school holiday program are encouraged to complete a School Holiday Program Expression of Interest form or contact the City’s youth team on 9956 6600.
