WELCOME TO OUR 2023 WILDFLOWER REPORT

Our season is moving along. The orchids are disappearing, and the everlastings and ground cover are struggling with the dry soil conditions and temperatures over 30 degrees. However, the bush flowers will continue flowering for some time yet. Small regional information centres will start to close as the season moves on. Check on the information boards adjacent to each centre for news.
KALBARRI: The National Park offers a wide range of flowers at the inland gorges and the coastal strip. Kangaroo Paws are flowering throughout the area. Lots of colourful blooms around including Lambs Tails, Pink Pokers, Bottlebrush, Smokebush, Verticordia and Calatryx along Ajana-Kalbarra Road as well as in the parks. FB Kalbarri Visitor Centre
CHAPMAN RIVER PARK: is located in the northern suburbs of Geraldton and offers a range of flowers. Chapman River Friends offer guided educational walks. FB Chapman River Friends. They have a great app to identify flowers. Just search – CRF Wildflowers.
TENINDEWA: 20kms west of Mullewa. Head north on the Yuna Road for about 500m. Turn in at the Pioneer Well sign and drive the loop. Everlastings around however they are beginning to dry out.
MULLEWA: A great town to base yourself. The Town Walk starts opposite the caravan park where you will find Calatryx, Wattles, patches of Pom Poms, Pink Everlastings, and Swan River Daisy. The Bushland Walk starts up the hill close to town. Everlastings can be found on old Mingenew Road. Check out Mullewa Visitor Centre for more info. FB Mullewa Community Resource Centre.
Visit Helen Ansell's Gallery for native flora and fauna artworks. Open 9am - 3pm everyday August and September with coffee and cake available to purchase.
PINDAR: Wreath Flowers can be found on both sides of road and are starting to blossom. Travel east of Mullewa for 30kms and turn into Pindar. Drive past Old Pindar Pub (a private residence) and left into Berringarra Road. Travel 10kms north on dirt road. Be aware there is a new road and parking structure so following the signage is recommended. Please take care not to drive over the flowers and beware of vehicles using this road.
CANNA: The orchids are coming to an end for this season with just a few of the Donkey and Cowslip varieties remaining. A map can be found in front of the closed shop. FB Canna WA – Wildflower Country.
MORAWA: The Information Centre in town is open, so call in and chat to the volunteers. There is also a notice on the front door with the latest information. FB Morawa Visitor Centre
PERENJORI: The Information Centre is open 10am-2pm, and the volunteers can assist with wildflower locations. Wreath flowers and Native Fox Glove can be found at Orchid Ridge.
COALSEAM CONSERVATION PARK: The Park has a few Everlastings however they are starting to seed.
Camp hosts on site. Enjoy the unique geography, walk trails and birds.
MINGENEW: The Visitor Centre is open Mon-Fri 9am-3pm and weekends 9am-1pm and a great place for up to date flower information. Check out the Mingenew Hill for great views and Pom Poms at the lookout. FB Mingenew Visitor Centre.
DEPOT HILL: Depot Hill is on the Allanooka Springs Rd, 15kms northeast of Mingenew on the road to Geraldton. Hakea, Damperia and Thryptomene flowering. Park in carpark and walk up the hill. A few Pink Everlastings as you near the top of the incline.
ENEABBA – BADGINGARRA ON BRAND HIGHWAY: This sand plain area has an extensive range of flowers. Roadsides colouring up with Acacia, Grevilia, Hakea, Dryandra, Yellow Verticordia and more. Blue Leschenaultia can also be found flowering. Don does great tours and can be contacted on 9652 3035.
LESUEUR NATIONAL PARK: Lesueur National Park is located inland and north of Jurien Bay. A hidden gem with lots of plants flowering, including Smoke Bush, Hibbertia, Banksia, Hakea, Calothamnus, Petrofile, Wattle and much more.
