Geraldton’s quest to be named as WA’s favourite holiday destination is one step closer after being named a finalist in the 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards.

Voting is open and the public now have the opportunity to help Geraldton secure gold.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune encouraged everyone to get involved and vote for Geraldton.

“Geraldton has really ramped things up on the tourism front over the last 12 months with the launch of our Stay and Play destination marketing campaign,” he said.

“We all know Geraldton provides the best of coastal city attractions for families and after receiving silver for the last four years, significantly more people are stopping off to experience the wonders of our region.

“I encourage everyone to get on board and vote for Geraldton so that this year we can bring home gold.”

The 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards recognise and reward towns in WA that demonstrate a strong commitment to encouraging tourism and increasing visitation.

Geraldton has been named a finalist in the ‘population over 5,000 people’ category and if successful, will secure a $20,000 television advertising package to market the destination.

Those who vote also have the chance to win a $5,000 WA travel voucher or $500 to be spent at any RAC Park or Resort in WA.

Voting closes Friday 1 May 2026 and the winners will be announced at the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Conference in Carnarvon on Tuesday May 26.

Geraldton’s entry in the WA Top Tourism Town Awards aligns with the Thriving theme of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and reflects the organisation’s commitment to supporting and promoting diverse tourism offerings.
