Geraldton has been recognised as one of Western Australia’s leading destinations, taking home a silver medal at the 2026 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards.
Aimed at recognising destinations with a strong commitment to tourism and increasing visitation, this is the fifth consecutive year Geraldton has taken second place on the podium.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the continued recognition highlights the ongoing dedication of the local tourism industry.
“Geraldton continues to deliver high-quality visitor experiences that keep people coming back,” he said.
“Over the past year, we have been working closely with local tourism operators as well as CBD food and beverage businesses as part of our Stay and Play marketing campaign to position Geraldton as an amazing place to holiday.
“To achieve silver five years in a row is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects the passion and hard work of all those in our community who welcome visitors and promote our region to the world.”
Geraldton was presented with the accolade at the 2026 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards in Carnarvon on Tuesday night with the top spot going to Kununurra and bronze going to Kalgoorlie.
Winners from each state will now progress to the national awards, which are being held later this year.
