Geraldton Blessing of the Fleet

The Blessing of the Fleet is a tradition introduced to the WA Community by the fishermen of Fremantle.

It has its roots in Eastern Europe and marked the beginning of the fishing season.

The ceremony is used to bless the vessels working on the ocean and all who sail upon them and then a celebration is held as an event involving the whole fishing industry and wider community.
